At GemPoms, breeding isn’t just a business—it’s a twenty-year legacy built on a shared love between a mother and daughter. Our journey began two decades ago when an 8-year-old Misty locked eyes with a tiny ball of fluff named Shelby. That first Pomeranian didn't just become a family pet; she sparked a lifelong passion that has evolved into a premier AKC breeding and showing program.
Two Decades of Dedication
While we have 20 years of breeding experienceunder our belts, 2018 marked a major milestone for us: we officially stepped into the ring. Since then, we have been dedicated to the art of the AKC show circuit, constantly refining our line to meet the highest standards of the breed.
A Dynamic Duo: Roles & Expertise
At GemPoms, we believe our success comes from the balance of our individual strengths. Julie and Misty each bring a specialized skillset to the table:
- Julie: The Caretaker & CompetitorJulie is the heart of our nursery. She specializes in whelping, ensuring every litter is brought into the world with expert care and safety. When she isn't raising the next generation, you’ll find her in the ring, proudly exhibiting our dogs in the AKC Owner-Handler classes.
- Misty: The Creative & Stylist Misty’s eye for detail defines the "GemPoms look." As our professional show groomer, she meticulously prepares our dogs for the spotlight. She also serves as our photographer and social media extraordinaire, capturing the personalities of our Poms and connecting our community online.
Our Philosophy: Family First, Never "Kennel" Bred
We do things differently here. You won't find any out-buildings or outdoor kennels at GemPoms. Our dogs are our family members, living across our two separate homes.
By splitting our program between two households, we ensure that every single dog receives:
- Individualized love and one-on-one attention.
- A true home environment where they are socialized daily.
- The comfort of a sofa and a lap rather than a crate in a shed.
